Community Voices: Celebrating Culture Through Dance

Folklórico is more than dance—it’s a vibrant expression of identity, pride, and resilience. At HRCTV, we’re proud to offer free Folklórico classes for youth and adults, sharing traditional Mexican dance with the community while preserving a rich cultural legacy. Every performance is a reminder of where we come from and how art connects us all.

This year, our Folklórico dancers performed at 10 community events, including Día de los Muertos, Cinco de Mayo, and the Teton Valley Summer Festival. Audiences cheered as children twirled in colorful skirts and rhythmic steps echoed across the stage. These dances tell stories of regions in Mexico—Jalisco, Veracruz, Oaxaca—and are taught with attention to history, movement, and meaning.

Parents and students alike report how transformative the program has been. For some, it’s a chance to reclaim heritage that was distant or forgotten; for others, it’s a new cultural connection made right here in Idaho. We’ve also hosted introductory classes for non-Latino community members to foster mutual appreciation and inclusion.

Folklórico at HRCTV is not just a program—it’s a celebration. It’s an invitation for everyone to experience the beauty of culture and a reminder that Teton Valley’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths.
